NIGHTS OF BEAUTIFUL DANCES

It was a very beautiful night when we went to the IIT gym to watch the "Silip Sayaw Sa Mindanao" of the Kalimulan dancers of MSU-IIT. The performance shows about the different cultural dances of the Mindanao tribes and groups which would really make your hair rise and appreciate the uniqueness and creativeness of each tribe and group. The Kalimulan dancers are really great performers because of their gracefulness and discipline in dancing makes the show a very good one. The best dance that I appreciate is the "Singkil" of the Muslims. The costumes are very elegant and colorful. It really shows the creativeness of the Muslim culture. After the show, I and my board mates are dancing because we really like the show so much.

BUSY DAY

This is my most busy week of all. I have a lot of assignments, exams and paper works to submit.But even thou I sleep late at night, I can still managed to have a little nap and relax my mind. I hope I can make it and pass all my requirements on time. I have a problem in my English2 subject, I don't have enough references in my research paper. I hope I can find more.

THE PROCESS OF ACCEPTING

It was valentines day when I called my mother and say thank you for giving me the load I ask from her. I told her about our activity on tree planting in Iligan Cement Corp.(ICC) on that day as a part of our celebration on PolSci week and that I really enjoy there thou its too dusty and hot. But later, our conversation become serious when she told me that my sister is pregnant and planning to get married maybe next year. My tear starts flowing and I keep on asking my mother "why"?From that moment also I forgot to say "happy valentines day" to her .My mother keeps telling me not to worry because my sister has a work already and she was able to help in our family and specially to my studies. She said that they already accept and prepared themselves for that decision of my sister because it would really happen. After that call, I can't really stop my tears from falling and thinking on that fast decision of my sister. I'm not yet ready to let go of my big sister. It was just a short time when we started to talk about our secrets and being close to each other. I'm thinking maybe when she already have her own family we can never talk anytime we want because she's already busy minding her child. But I know that this feeling is just temporary and maybe sooner or later I will fully accept the situation. Right now I'm still on the process of accepting it and I thank God that He is helping me.

GREAT FILIPINO WRITERS

In our Filipino subject this morning, I learned that before the Spanish and Americans colonized our country we already have great born writers that has great contributions in our literature. They were able to create a literary works relating to life, love, livelihood and current events that affects our society and to us individuals. Their works become a legacy in our literature and an expression of freedom and oneness of the Filipinos during the time of colonization. The "nobelas" and "dula" during that time become a great source of entertainment for every Filipino and also to the foreigners. I was able to conclude to myself that we Filipinos are really amazing in different field like in literature. We should be proud of being a Filipino and give thanks to our great legendary writers that have showed their bravery and love for their passion, because without them we don't have the idea of the past and we don't have beautiful literature in the present.

GROUP LEARNING

When we have our English2 class last Wednesday, our teacher divide the class into 4 groups. It was my first time to mingle in my English 2 classmates. It was also the first time that we are grouped in the class. My teacher told us to identify the important information in a book or magazine that we need like for example the author's name and write it in a correct APA format. my group mates and me become so pressured because of the limited time given to us. There, I saw the camaraderie within our group. I saw how each one of us tried to memories the information needed in order for the group to have high score. From there I realized that it is important to participate and help one another when you are in a group so that the members can achieve the goal in one, and most of all there is power in unity.

LETS DO THE ACTION

The world is now on its worst. How much more on the near future?

Nowadays, the world is facing the most dangerous Global issue which is the Climate Change. We are now experiencing a different environment far from the environment that we have a very long time ago. No more accurate season for a month, the sun is now getting hotter and hotter, and little rain can now destroy villages and even cities. But we people are not making this as a serious issue in our society.We focus more on the latest progress and updates in technology and forgot to take a look in our nature and environment. Its a fact that this technology contributed a convenient, easy and fast living in the human beings but this is also the main reason for the destruction of our environment.Factories and companies are creating a lot non-biodegradable products and wastes thrown out in the in big bodies of water,making it polluted and dirty.Above all, because of us humans who make all this things to happen in our environment.Calamities, just like what happened during the storm "Ondoy", landslides in Baguio and in other places in and out of the country that shows the effect of climate change and ruined environment.I believe that this is not yet the end. We can still do something to stop climate change and fix the Earth's environment.We should discipline ourselves and work hand and hand to achieve a good and better place to live in.

FORTUNATE

When we have our CWTS last Sunday, we watched a documentary video entitled "Bunso". It is all about the life of two young boys,Buso and Anthony who have been prisoned for stealing. In their very young age, they were able to experience a difficult life,struggle, and cold.they narrate their reasons why they steal. One their reason is because of hunger and situatin in teir family. The story is very long and you can really feel teir pain and realize in yourself that you are lucky and fortunate that you are not one of them.

While I'm watching that documentary video, I learn how important the needs that our parents are providing us. I'm fortunate that I sleep well every night. I'm happy that my parents care for me and my sibling.I'm fortunate that my parents sent me to school. I realized that their are many families, especially children, suffering and experiencing life full of struggle and pain. Sometimes we just don't understand why this kind of people are doing crimes and beg to earn a living. I hope that someday that there will be a solution and help for this kind of situation in our country.

MAYON IS AWAKE AGAIN

Tourists and locals describe this volcano as perfect and amazing because of its shape like a cone. This volcano is no other than the Mt.Mayon in Albay here in our beloved country Philippines. But because of its unstopable natural activity, just last December of the year 2009, many of our brothers and sisters in Albay experienced a day of chaos instead of happiness and celebration during Christmas.

It was a watchful dayfor every Filipino, especially for the Albayanons updating the lava and magma flow of Mt.Mayon that are one of the signs of its explosion activity.Everytime I read a newspaper or switch on a television, first on the headline is Mt.Mayon,with pictures and videos showing the thick smoke and lava flowing from its top opening.The Philvolcs is very busy giving updates and alerts to every Filipinos mainly in Albay. Affected residents started to evacuate to keep safe but stiil, they can never think of peace because their livelihoods are ruined. Thou I'm not in the actual place and situation, I can feel their sadness and pain because it was always shown in the television. Some of them remains in their homes and continue taking care of their farms in the midst of calamity for the reason that atleast after the incident they have something to go back and start a new living.

The volcano's signs and activities changes untl the experts cannot exactly identify the date of explosion. The residents remained in the evacuation centers until Christmas and New year, waiting for the updates.Even they are in struggle and sadness, they still manage to celebrate those special occassions in a happy Filipino way, showing optimism and hope in the middle of chaos.

Now, after that tragedy, livelihoods and some of the lives of our Albayanon brothers and sisters were gone. Residents of the affected place is now starting to build a new community full of hope. Incidents like this give us a lot of lessons for realization and to awaken our sleeping hearts.

A PIECE OF LIFE

As I walk in the CASS hallways and step on the stairs, I heared some students talking about the death of the college dean, Mr. Edwin Peter S. Hernando. At first I was really shock and confused to believe about the news until my teacher in Filipino confirmed the news to us. My teacher cried as she reminisced the days while Mr.Hernando is still alive. We in the classgot teary eyes. Before our teacher starts her discussion, she reminds us to value our lives and always prepare ourselves for we don't know when and what way God take our life yo us.

This day, I learned not just in academic but on how important and special our life and the life of our loved ones.

A NEW LEARNING IN MY PSYCH1 SUBJECT

This is quite a busy day for me.I have my quiz in and two exams in 2 consecutive days.Even thou their are still a lot of lessons to be studied, I still enjoy this week's learning in my different subjects.

So far in my lessons this week, I enjoyed our discussion in Psych1.We are now tackling on Human development.Part of the topic is the Reproductive process which really makes the whole class noisy and laugh every time our teacher discuss on the reproductive organs and explains further through telling us some funny related stories.We also discuss about the dominant and recessive traits of a mother and a father that would possibly be inherited by the child.As our teacher go through her discussion,I learned from her shared story about a couple having the blood types AB and O.She said that this blood types are not compatible,for there are many cases happened that their child become physically and mentally abnormal,except for the first born child.Because of that I am quite scared in choosing my future partner.She said that it is really better to know the background of the family of your boyfriend or girlfriend before planning to marry and settle down and also to produce a good race that makes the class laugh.

After the class,I was able to think of that lesson of choosing a man to live with.It really affects me and makes me a little bit of scared in marrying somebody.
